“We must be free not because we claim freedom, but because we practice it.” ~William Faulkner
The FOCUSandFLOW Life Question:
How do you practice freedom for yourself and for others?
“Yes, we must claim freedom. Naming and claiming are important and affirmative steps toward liberation. But words are not enough. We must look into our hearts and minds and evaluate how our claims of freedom and justice for all are reflected in our actions. We must live in ways that both express and demand freedom for ourselves and for others. We must actively practice freedom everyday because oppression hides quietly and exerts its power through our blindness and inaction. We must actively practice freedom to disrupt the apathy of a status quo existence. We must actively practice freedom so that our lives do not fall into the shadows of freedom unrealized.” ~Shelly Prillerman Harrell
